The West's Economic Warfare Against China
The Dutch government has taken control of Nexperia, a Chinese-owned chipmaker based in the Netherlands, citing serious governance concerns and the need to protect European semiconductor supply and economic security. The move, made under the Goods Availability Act, allows the government to intervene in company decisions to safeguard critical technology and ensure continuity in emergencies. Nexperia’s parent company, Wingtech, which was added to the U.S. national security “entity list” in 2024, has vowed to defend its rights and seek government support. The takeover risks escalating EU-China tensions, with Chinese industry groups calling the action discriminatory. The Dutch government emphasized that Nexperia’s operations will continue as normal.
