Neither Power Nor President Hold Enough Strings To Matter

Bill Pulte, the FHFA director (and Trump ally), claimed he’s “encouraged by reports that Jerome Powell is considering resigning.” As if he knows anything, 😂. These comments, combined with an almost spiritual belief that the President and Fed hold all the strings within the global economy, triggered some late day selling.

The old American idiom of a day late and dollar short applies to the majority's ability to time markets. The majority, a group seeking acceptance of opinions rather than investment discipline, views rising and falling prices as bullish and bearish. Emotions, the tendency to buy/sell when probabilities favor the opposite, relegate the majority as the consistent bag holders of secular trend changes.

The Economy & Stocks (ES) Report regularly speaks of the importance of confidence in driving trends within the domestic and global economy. Confidence, an elusive and difficult metric to track, is the linchpin of all trends inside the Matrix. Every E&S Report subscriber understands the importance of confidence, and how we track it. Anyone lost on the subject is encouraged to (re)watch every update in 2024.

The computer tracks confidence through two main conduits. We'll quickly address them today's.  2024 is a transition year. The majority views it as an election year, but that's an oversimplification of longer cycles that will be well established by November.
