Wars Distract For Domestic Issues Like Privacy
The House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 28–24 along party lines to advance the Kids Internet and Digital Safety Act, a package of bills that would require age verification for adult content and add new online safety and privacy protections for children. Republicans moved the measure forward despite Democratic opposition, with critics arguing it is weaker than Senate proposals like the Kids Online Safety Act and Children and Teens’ Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA 2.0) because it lacks stronger requirements for tech companies.
