When machines write for us, it destroys the thinking process necessary for creativity, discovery, and purpose. Corporate leaders tell us that our kids will work 3.5 days a week, live to 100 because AI is going to cure cancer, prevent car crashes, save lives, discover and create.
The younger generations, however, seem far more aware of the flaws of AI. AI, while a useful tool, can only extrapolate from existing human knowledge. Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google, gets booed for being just another tone-deaf leader. Ironically, the generation using AI the most may also understand its limits the best. They recognize something many Boomers, Gen-Xers, elites, and institutional leaders either refuse to admit or are too afraid to say out loud. Society become drones when people stop thinking, writing, and creating for themselves.
If kids become drones because AI does everything short of wiping their ass, the quality of human thinking crumbles. And when thinking collapses, creativity, innovation, and discovery go with it. You really think AI is going to cure cancer without deeply creative humans driving it? If you believe that, you probably haven’t used AI extensively.
The point of living is to create. Creativity inspires others to be creative. Perhaps, the same individuals supporting digital ID want the world dependent on universal basic income, and the good graces of AI to survive? What's more likely is that the younger generation tells them to shove their unlimited consumption and debt creation where the sun doesn't shine.
If we continue down this path, the invisible hand is saying unemployment will rise, purpose will decline, and government for being perpetually tone-deaf.
