Call me skeptical, stupid, and/or bloody clueless for asking. How would NATO et al. plan to wage or even entertain the possibility of winning WWIII? The public, a clueless group, will eventually ask when the price of gasoline, the all important barometer of political success on main street, spikes. Someone other than George Patton has to say the obvious, hypersonic missiles, fighters, aircraft carriers, basically the entire war machine is powered by hydrocarbons. They require oil, and rare earth elements which the US hasn't developed, and the Chinese are considering restricting export for some reason.

Oil-producing nations clearly have had enough. The US has spent the last 10 years killing domestic production, investing huge sums of money in ESG, and recently drained a huge chunk of the strategic petroleum reserve (SPR) to cap the price of gasoline for political gain. While these choice are accepted by the clueless majority, they're meaningless to the invisible hand.

Social media often refers to this setup as a clown show. It's difficult to disagree.
