The Financial Accounts of the United States offer detailed data on the flow of funds and the financial positions of different sectors, including households, nonprofits, nonfinancial corporations, and noncorporate businesses. These accounts provide comprehensive balance sheets that cover assets, liabilities, and net worth—organized by sector and financial instrument. The Flow of Funds (FOF) report tracks borrowing, lending, and investment activity across households, businesses, governments, and farms, helping identify trends in economic performance, capital movement, and long-term financial cycles. This data is analyzed computationally to help detect and time major economic turning points.

In July, total net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities, and banking flows resulted in a modest net TIC inflow of $2.1 billion. This reflected $22.6 billion in net inflows from foreign private investors, partially offset by $20.5 billion in net outflows from foreign official institutions.
