EU Going All In For Ukraine
Norway’s Defense Minister Tore Sandvik announced that $7 billion will be allocated in 2026 to support Ukraine’s defense needs, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. During their meeting, the two countries signed memorandums to establish a joint defense enterprise in Ukraine and to introduce uniform quality standards for defense products.
Shmyhal also confirmed that Ukraine has been invited to join a meeting of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) — a British-led coalition that includes Nordic and Baltic States — marking Ukraine’s first participation in this format.
Since 2022, Norway has provided Ukraine with about $606 million in financial aid. Under its proposed 2026 defense budget, Norway plans to raise military spending and extend total support to Ukraine to an estimated $27.3 billion by 2030. Additionally, Norway recently allocated $150 million to support Ukraine’s energy sector.
