Trade Deficit Is Not A Concern
The U.S. trade deficit widened sharply in December to $70.3 billion, significantly above expectations, capping a year in which the overall imbalance changed little despite tariff efforts by President Donald Trump. For 2025, the total deficit reached $901.5 billion—down just 0.2% from 2024 and slightly below the 2022 record.
The high trade deficit is being spun for politician reasons, which work to an extent because the majority doesn't understand real world economics.
