Trump Campaigned Against Endless Wars

In 2016, Donald Trump built his campaign on attacking the Iraq War and the Bush family, promising to end “endless wars” and keep the U.S. out of foreign conflicts. He repeated that message through 2020 and 2024, with allies like JD Vance praising him for starting no new wars in his first term.

Now, in his second term, Trump has launched major military operations in Iran and Venezuela, including “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran without congressional approval. Despite previously criticizing Middle East interventions, he argues Iran poses an imminent threat and has signaled the conflict could expand, marking a sharp turn from his earlier anti-war stance.
