All Russian Porsches Disabled Recently
Beginning late last month, all Porsche vehicles in Russia reportedly became inoperable after being “bricked” by a failure in the company’s satellite-based Vehicle Tracking System. Instead of preventing theft, the system rendered the cars unusable. While the exact cause is unclear—ranging from a possible cyberattack to satellite interference or a software glitch—the problem is worsened by the fact that Porsche halted vehicle support in Russia in 2022 following the invasion of Ukraine.
