Preemptive Pardons
President Joe Biden issued preemptive pardons today for Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gen. Mark Milley, and members of the January 6th Committee.
Welcome to the chaos, where rules can be rewritten as needed.
Are preemptive pardons even legal? Typically, one must plead guilty to a crime to receive a pardon. If no crime was committed, why the need for a pardon? Congress should call these individuals to testify with their hands on the Bible, and the world watching. They can't be convicted of a crime, so they won't plead the Fifth (Amendment). Their responses would be intriguing.
