Canadian War Games
Canada’s military has developed a theoretical model for responding to a hypothetical U.S. invasion for the first time in over a century, according to a new report. The precautionary plan reflects rising political tensions under President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly suggested Canada become the “51st state” and has raised security concerns about the Arctic.
The model assumes a rapid U.S. advance from the south and outlines Canada’s reliance on asymmetric warfare, including sabotage, ambushes, and drone attacks, due to limited conventional capabilities. It also anticipates requesting support from NATO allies such as the U.K., France, and Germany. While officials stress an invasion is highly unlikely and military cooperation with the U.S. continues, the exercise underscores deteriorating political relations and growing Canadian concern about national security and sovereignty.
